EDMUND SAWYER and REBECCA FAIRBANKS SAWYER

Edmund Sawyer was born April 23, 1802 in Warner, N.H Birth Record

He came to Boston, Mass. in 1827 from Warner,NH. He was a carpenter and worked with a Hillard Smith

who was a cabinet maker and later a piano maker.

In 1831 he was a partner with Henry Peeler a machinist.

Edmund is later listed as an engineer instead of machinist.

Below is a section of patent drawing for an engine printing press that he evidently was trying to obtain a patent for. I believe it is dated Feb.13, 1840.

He married Rebecah Fairbanks of Harvard Mass. on Jan 27.1836 [Mass. Vital Records shows Feb.23]. They had seven children.

Edmund Sawyer died May 20, 1856 at Charleston, MA and is buried in the Forest Hills Cemetry in Boston, MA. in a family plot along with his wife Rebecah; two daughters Carrie M. Sawyer and Eliza R. Sawyer; his granddaughter Florence Nickerson and her two sons Richard Brewster Nickerson and Willard Brewster Nickerson. There is also a Zapha Fairbanks who I believe is Rebecca.s brother Zopher.
