Joseph Willard did serve at the age of 17 for two days in Col Josiah Whitney's regiment Capt. Hezekiah Whitney's Company, when it marched on an alarn in Rhode Island on July 22, 1777.

Served in the Militia of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, (now the U. S.) Second Brigade, Seventh Division.

He was made ensign on Mar. 23, 1795, Lieutenant on May 22 1797 and

Appointed Captain May 15, 1798.

Head Stone - Died Jan. 18, 1823 and is burried in the Harvard Center Cemetery
